TREND UPDATE: In lace

As I child I had a pair of white spotty lace gloves I would pop on every now and again and ditty around like a dainty and very prim princess. A few years on, I still have the lace gloves, kept in a box as a reminder of childhood dress-up.

The effect of lace accessories or clothing, whether the wearer is young or old, remains the same. Lace is elegant, feminine and ultra romantic and makes one feel that little bit more ladylike.

Take the recently wed Duchess of Cambridge's wedding gown. The delicate lace only made Catherine look more beautiful. The demure quality of lace means that you wear it, it does not wear you.

However, if you fancy going head-to-toe as seen at Dolce & Gabbana, keep accessories minimal to avoid looking like an overdressed table setting.

Done right, the lace trend will look demure, elegant and as fresh as strawberries on a summer's day. I love lace in the purest cloudy white or vanilla creams and head-to-toe; and just like Catherine herself, this season's lace trend is a truly modern classic.
